TEQUILA
–
Fun fact: Tequila is a type of mezcal, but made only from the Blue Weber agave and must be produced in specific regions of Mexico (primarily Jalisco).
In short, tequila is the refined, polished cousin of mezcal: more consistent, often smoother, and made for both sipping and cocktails. All tequila is mezcal, but not all mezcal is tequila.

MEZCAL
–
Fun fact: Mezcal is a traditional Mexican spirit made by distilling fermented juice from any type of agave plant. It’s known for its smoky flavour, which comes from roasting agave hearts (piñas) in underground pits.
Mezcal is the smoky, expressive spirit of Mexico: wild, artisanal, and deeply rooted in indigenous tradition. Each batch is unique, shaped by the agave species, terroir, and handcrafting process.

SOTOL
–
Fun fact: Sotol is a distilled spirit made from the sotol, or desert spoon plant, which is native to northern Mexico and parts of the southwestern United States. While often compared to mezcal or tequila, it’s not made from agave, which sets it apart.
Think of sotol as the wilder, more herbal cousin to tequila and mezcal: less sweet, more vegetal, and often tied closely to terroir and traditional craft production.
