The Sanchez distillery is a small family-owned business established for over 150 years in Candelaria Yegolé, a village in the state of Oaxaca.

For four generations, the maestro mezcaleros Sanchez have succeeded one another from father to son to produce exceptional artisanal mezcals.

Smaller in size and with a wider diameter than the agave Cuishe, the Madre Cuishe (mother Cuishe) gets its name from a tradition of planting these agaves around Espadin fields to protect them, much like a mother would protect her children.

It is typically found in high-altitude areas with a milder climate than the environment of the Cuishe.
