Description
Tasting Notes
Appearance : Orangey copper.
Nose : Full-bodied, distinguished. Wavering between notes of mango, apricot, heather honey, orange and vanilla, the first nose is impressively precise. Allowed to breathe, cocoa powder, green liquorice, burnt wood, clove and curry create an olfactory entity of rare richness. Little by little as time passes, sweetcorn, rose petal and gentian root take centre stage.
Palate : Clear, lively. The very floral attack (geranium, tuberose) reveals exotic fruits (mango, guava) and red fruits (raspberry, strawberry) on a mineral backdrop (slate, pencil lead). The deliciously vanilla and praline mid-palate is also herbaceous (tobacco), candied (apricot), tertiary (walnut, chestnut) and floral (purple lilac). In the aftertaste, abundant sweetcorn rolls across the palate.
Finish : Long, taut. The start of the finish allows a glimpse of the clarity and purity of a spirit that expresses flavours of raspberry and quince. Next, vanilla pod and maple syrup form an especially creamy and smooth duo. The balsamic (pine), resinous (ginseng) and vanilla retro-nasal olfaction is a subtle combination of power and softness. The empty glass is liquoricey, fruity (mandarin), burnt and vegetal (coriander, dill).
