Starting in 2006, Taiwan island has seen its country being recognized on the world map as among the producers of whisky. Under the impetus of the King Car group, the first Taiwanese distillery opened its doors in the province of Yi-Lan, in the northeast of Taiwan, and is committed to producing, by calling on the best experts in the industry, a whisky with an inimitable style, already rewarded on multiple occasions. Named Kavalan in honor of an ancient tribal known for its agricultural culture, the distillery finds its balance between traditional craftsmanship and technological modernity. The fruity, floral, fresh and subtly spicy profile of its single malt is due to the use of un-smoked malt barley from Scotland, as well as a particularly short cut of the heart of the distillate. Zerose Yang, senior blender of the distillery, captures the purest essence in the distillate and draws out the aromas that make Kavalan a great signature, between richness and elegance.

Kavalan Sherry, from the Solist range, is a single malt collection of the distillery’s best cask strength bottlings. Produced with water sourced from the Hsuehshan mountain (“Snowy Mountains”) and aged in oloroso sherry casks, and bottled by hand, without reduction, added caramel or chill filtration, it’s a rich, exotic and complex whisky, already voted Best Rest of the World Single Malt at the World Whisky Awards 2011.
