Tasting Notes
Colour : Topaz.
Nose : Subtle yet powerful. On the first nose, vetiver aromas fragrance an extremely animal (leather, smoked meat), earthy and almost marshy peat. Increasingly musky, once allowed to breathe, the aroma palette reveals particularly original vegetable notes (cauliflower). Salty, it gradually becomes more marine (iodine, smoked fish).
Palate : Lively, sharp. After a lovely vanilla sequence, the attack quickly becomes empyreumatic (sleet, diesel) and ashy. The magnificently herbaceous mid-palate (straw, cut hay, lucerne) is refreshed with a delicious apricot liqueur. Next, the flavours of an oily and chocolate peat take over the flavour arena. With its notes of soot and ash, the end of palate eloquently brings to mind a chimney hearth.
Finish : Long, assertive. At the start of the finish, oranges release their tangy juice across the sides of the palate and the tongue. At the same time, notes of agave and violet highlight the herbaceous and floral character of an especially heady end to the finish. On the retro-nasal olfaction, a few notes of petrol and gas oil seep deep into the palate. The empty glass is peaty, animal (venison), vegetal (artichoke) and fruity (apricot stone).
