Tasting Notes

Colour : Copper

Nose : Lively, powerful. Very unique, the initial aroma is a mixture of damp black peat, bacon, varnish, candied orange, and dried apricot. Upon aeration, hints of salt and pepper emerge on the aromatic palette. As time goes by, the peat becomes more and more prominent. Then, a lovely herbaceous sequence (freshly cut hay, alfalfa), fruity (mirabelle plum, walnut), honeyed (heather), and floral (tuberose, daisy) carries us to the palate.

Palate : Both lively and creamy. True to the initial nose, the palate starts with peat and malt. The mid-palate is marked by notes of licorice, gentian roots, juicy melon, and toffee. Gradually, spices (ginger, cinnamon) and milk chocolate accompany flavors of marmalade and rhubarb tart. The aftertaste is definitively malty.

Finish : Long, balanced. At times reminiscent of chartreuse, the beginning of the finish is smoky (fir, cedar), autumnal (undergrowth, moss), and herbaceous (savory, sage, willow). Then, a lighter and drier peat covers the taste buds. The retro-olfaction is indulgent, offering coffee eclairs to the tasting. Similar to the initial nose, the empty glass is peaty, smoky, medicinal, camphoraceous, and varnished.
