When Sir Alexander Matheson founded the Dalmore distillery in 1839, he set himself an ambitious challenge: to create the first 12-year-old whisky, thus inventing a method that would become the standard for single malt whiskies, while his neighbors and competitors were content with a maximum of 6 years of aging.

After 9 years in ex-bourbon casks, half of the precious liquid continues to mature in casks that previously held 30-year-old oloroso sherry, while the other half remains in bourbon casks.

Even today, The Dalmore 12 Years remains impressively elegant and complex.
