Grankaz Batch #2 represents the quintessence of Seychelles rum, showcasing Takamaka’s expertise in aging and blending. The pure sugarcane juice rums from Seychelles are distilled in pot stills and aged for 2 to 4 years in new French oak barrels with medium char. They are then blended with a molasses rum, aged in bourbon casks for three years, and an eight-year-old molasses rum from Foursquare Distillery. This blend rests for 90 days in tanks and is slowly reduced to its perfect intensity, according to Steven Rioux, Takamaka’s Master Blender. Bottled at 51.6% ABV, without added color or sugar, and unchill-filtered, this rum is fruity and herbaceous with notes of vanilla and buttery caramel, followed by a pronounced oak complexity.
