BRUICHLADDICH 20 ans 2002 Bourbon Cask New Vibrations Rest & Be Thankful

$530.00

Founded in 1881, the Bruichladdich distillery experienced an initial period of closure from 1929 to 1936. This was followed by a series of closures and reopenings spanning from 1983 to 2001, when it was acquired by the Murray MacDavid Company. In 2012, it became the property of Maison Rémy Cointreau. Aged in bourbon casks, this wonderfully maritime version brilliantly demonstrates that it is not necessarily necessary to be peated to claim the coveted title of “Islay Single Malt.”

Tasting Notes

Colour
: Bright gold.

Nose : Rich, powerful. Particularly saline, the initial nose also reveals fruity notes (apple, pear), herbaceous tones (freshly cut hay), and peppery hints. Upon aeration, superb vanilla, medicinal (balm), and licorice aromas provide a lot of warmth to the aromatic palette. Superbly classic.

Palate : Both lively and balanced. Floral (peony, lavender), the mouthfeel is simultaneously mineral (charcoal, slate). In the middle of the palate, vanilla and lemony flavors harmonize delightfully, transcending into an increasingly verdant taste profile (green malt, verbena).

Finish : Long, smooth. At the start of the finish, acacia honey blends with maritime aromatic plants (samphire, sea buckthorn). This sweet-salty duality continues into a finely licorice and milky aftertaste (coconut, almond) and a retro-olfaction with malty flavors.
