Description
Tasting Notes
Colour : Orangey copper with glints of mahogany.
Nose : Full-bodied, deep. With rare concentration, the first nose wavers elegantly between aromas of mushroom (truffle, porcini), noble spices (cardamom), apricot coulis, roasted mango, grilled walnut, cocoa powder, dark chocolate and spice bread. The complexity is incredible! Allowed to breathe, the aroma palette reveals a remarkably pure expression of leather, incense, quince jelly and wild strawberry.
Palate : Exhilarating. The divinely rancio attack (brandied cherries, very ripe mango) is also particularly fleshy and dense. The extremely well-balanced mid-palate reveals particularly moving notes of vanilla pod, toffee, pomegranate and lime blossom honey. The end of the palate takes us into very subtle floral registers (geranium, dahlia, carnation, peony).
Finish : Long, full. With its taffeta or white peach texture, the start of the finish invites us to take bite straight in. At the end of the finish, strawberry and raspberry add to the already well-assorted fruity register. On the retro-nasal olfaction, notes of toffee, forest floor and tobacco emphasize the flavour palette’s mature and tertiary character. Acting as the signature at the end of the tasting, the empty glass is intensely malty and refreshingly herbaceous.
