PORT CHARLOTTE 19 ans 2004 Sherry Cask Foundations Rest & Be Thankful

$545.00

The Bruichladdich distillery was founded in 1881 by Barnett Harvey. Closed from 1929 to 1936, it doubled its production capacity in 1975, increasing from two to four stills.

It was mothballed again in 1983 and then in 1995, before being purchased in 2000 by the bottler Murray McDavid and later sold in 2012 to the Rémy Cointreau group.

With a phenol level of 40 ppm, the first Port Charlotte distillate was produced in July 2001.

Very refined, the aromatic and flavor palette of this version reveals all the mysteries that define the personality of this iconic Islay whisky.

The mustardy and roasted aromas that linger in the empty glass long after are a vivid testament to its complexity.

Description

Tasting Notes

Colour
: Mahogany.

Nose : Rich, deep. Aromas of raisins, straw, cloves, oily peat, cough candy, mushrooms, incense, potting soil, roasted nuts, ashes, tobacco, fig jam… These are some of the elements revealed by an extremely complex and expressive aromatic palette.

Palate : Lively, full-bodied. Both airy and earthy, the flavor palette mirrors much of the aromatic palette. Mineral (slate, pencil lead), oxidative (cherry in brandy), iodized and medicinal, it extends into flavors of crème brûlée and tarte Tatin.

Finish : Long, silky. Initially, numerous dark fruits (cherry, grape, blueberry) enrich a particularly juicy flavor profile. Then, gradually, meaty notes (bacon, rump steak) and empyreumatic hints (charcoal) leave a lasting impression on the palate.
