LAPHROAIG 2005 Aged 20 Years ARTIST #15 Something in the Water

Renowned for its unmistakable phenolic character, Laphroaig is one of Islay’s most iconic and distinctive single malts. Founded in 1815 by brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston, the distillery takes its name from the Gaelic meaning “the hollow of the bay.” Laphroaig maintains its own peat bog, securing the distinctive peat that defines its whisky, while its water source, the Loch Kilbride spring, is itself filtered through peat.

The 15th edition of the Artist range, dedicated to Islay single malts, makes a stop at Laphroaig with an expression that reveals a particularly tropical and multifaceted side of its peat. Presented in a pale gold hue, it combines pineapple and passion fruit with hot tar, oily peat, sea spray and mineral notes, while layers of spice, honey, citrus and floral character emerge throughout the tasting.
