Founded in 2005, Kilchoman was the first distillery built on Islay in over a century and remains one of the island’s few true farmhouse distilleries. Its distinctive approach includes growing and malting a portion of its own barley on Islay, giving the whisky a strong sense of place. Known for its vibrant combination of citrus, peat smoke and maritime character, Kilchoman has quickly established itself as one of Islay’s most distinctive modern distilleries.
The 100% Islay Oloroso Sherry Cask Matured is a particularly distinctive expression, produced entirely from Kilchoman’s own Islay-grown barley harvested in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Matured for a minimum of 11 years in 16 ex-Oloroso sherry butts, the whisky develops layers of dried fruit and rich spice that complement rather than overpower Kilchoman’s natural citrus sweetness and peat smoke. The result is a deeply flavoured Islay single malt where rich sherry influence meets vibrant smoke and malt character.
