The core expression of Edradour’s heavily peated range, Ballechin, is this 10 year old single malt whisky and comes from a combination of ex-Oloroso sherry and ex-Bourbon casks.
The nose opens with oily malt, whiffs of burnt ends and barbecued char, as well as a few touches of apples and figs. Chewy dates and oak greet the palate, with smouldering peat bringing spicy heat diving into fruity and tangy, with hints of peppermint. The finish is long & intense.
