ICHIRO’S MALT Chichibu Double Distilleries

Founded by Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of Hanyu Distillery, CHICHIBU began operations in 2008 with two custom-made stills from Forsyth’s in Scotland. Since its early releases, the distillery has built a reputation for its small-scale production and innovative approach to Japanese single malt, with Ichiro Akuto continually exploring new techniques and expressions. The distillery also safeguards remaining stocks from historic Japanese distilleries including Karuizawa, Kawasaki and Hanyu.

This Chichibu Double Distilleries release brings together spirits from the original Chichibu Distillery and Chichibu Distillery II, established in 2019. The original distillery contributes rich and refined fruitiness, while the second distillery’s direct-fired distillation adds depth and structure. Their contrasting characters come together in a vibrant and indulgent profile, combining honeyed sweetness, creamy vanilla and coconut with an expressive medley of fresh fruits and warming spices.
