HIGHLAND PARK 2003 OVER 20 YEARS ARTIST #14 Rothes Glen

$700.00

Founded in 1798 by David Robertson, Highland Park was a hotspot for illicit distillation until it received its license in 1826.

In 1898, it doubled its production capacity, going from two to four stills. Since 1999, it has been owned by the Edrington group.

In his Guide to Single Malts, Michael Jackson described Highland Park as “the most complete athlete of all Scotch single malts.” Discovering this timeless version, one can only agree.

Reminiscent of an old Vin Jaune from Jura, it unfolds with great elegance, offering an old-school character that revives deeply buried childhood memories.

Tasting Notes

Colour
: Old gold.

Nose : Rich, refined. Exotic and oxidative (macerated fruits, balsamic vinegar), the aromatic palette is immediately a real source of pleasure. Upon aeration, scents of sea salt, linden blossom, lime, guava, beeswax, curry, and rice cake deeply permeate the olfactory space.

Palate : Dense, full-bodied. Candied (pineapple, walnut, mirabelle plum), creamy (custard) and at the same time tangy (grapefruit, lemon), the flavor profile has an extremely delicate texture (rice grain, grated ginger). It then becomes increasingly exotic (ripe banana), resinous (pine, cedar), and herbaceous (pipe tobacco).

Finish : Long, full. Full of serenity, it now unfolds more rustic tones (pasture, dandelion), earthy, rooty (gentian), and almost peaty. Gradually, flavors of lavender and heather honey spread all over the palate. The empty glass is undeniably peaty and camphor-like.
