Hampden Estate is one of Jamaica’s most iconic rum distilleries, celebrated for producing intensely aromatic pot still rums using traditional methods that have remained largely unchanged for over 250 years. Long fermentations, wild yeasts and copper pot still distillation give Hampden its unmistakable high-ester character, making its single cask releases highly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Distilled in 2012 and matured for seven years in a single ex-bourbon cask, this exclusive release was bottled for Whisky Live Paris 2019. Drawn from Single Cask #299, it carries Hampden’s OWH (Outram Wormald Hussey) marque, representing an ester level of 40–80 gr/hlAA—the lightest marque in Hampden’s range, introduced in the early 2010s. Limited to just 260 bottles, this expression showcases a more elegant and fruit-forward side of Hampden, balancing vibrant tropical fruit with subtle estery complexity and exceptional drinkability.
