CAOL ILA 8 ans 2015 Artist Collective 7.0

$139.00

Founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson, Caol Ila was first rebuilt and expanded in 1879. Acquired by Distillers Company Limited in 1927, it was entirely demolished in 1972, except for a maturation warehouse, and reopened in 1974 with a distillation hall featuring a large bay window showcasing six stills.

Note by note, the aromatic and gustatory palette of this small batch of six casks paints a vivid picture of the smoky, malty, iodine-rich, floral, and herbaceous character of this legendary single malt.

The labels of the Artist Collective 7.0 range are illustrated by German visual artist Katrin Bremermann, whose works explore universal concepts of form, proportion, rhythm, and structure. This new artistic collaboration was made possible with the assistance of the Beaux Arts Institute, a leader in innovative artistic partnerships.

The label of this Caol Ila 2015 Aged 8 Years is illustrated by artwork No. 2012 by Katrin Bremermann.

Tasting Notes

Colour
: Bright gold.

Nose : Clean, precise. Empyreumatic (sleet, ashes), mineral, and lemony, the aromatic palette is pleasantly malty (barley grain) and honeyed. With aeration, it becomes peppery, spicy (Cayenne), and medicinal (balm, camphor).

Palate : Straight, elegant. Radiating maturity, the flavor palette adds vanilla, floral (lily, iris), and fruity (pear) tones, giving it great substance. Infused with mint and verbena, the finish is slightly animalistic and chalky.

Finish : Long, full. Notes of asphalt and pipe tobacco introduce the finish, which is also finely licorice-flavored, verdant (barley field), and iodine-rich. The tasting lingers with superb mineral flavors of graphite and pencil lead.
