BENROMACH 2014 Aged 10 Years ARTIST #14 Benromach

$260.00

Founded in 1898, the Benromach distillery closed its doors before even opening, as one of its two owners went bankrupt following the Pattison brothers’ collapse.

It wasn’t until 1909 that its stills began operating. Purchased in 1911 by Harvey MacNair, and then in 1919 by a consortium called Benromach Distillers Ltd, it was dormant from 1931 to 1937.

It later became the property of the National Distillery of America, and then in 1953 of the Distillers Company Ltd, before being dismantled in 1983.

This version naturally opens wide the doors to the Benromach universe. Verdant, delicately peated, and deliciously indulgent, its aromatic and flavor profile also brilliantly cultivates the art of the unexpected.

Tasting Notes

Colour
: Bright gold.

Nose : Refined, ample. Medicinal (arnica, balm), salty, mineral (chalk), and lemony, the aromatic palette also reveals delicate peat/smoke and tender maltiness. Further along, sweet and strong spices (cinnamon, clove, ginger) intertwine, leaving a very pleasant sensation of fullness.

Palate : Clean, tense. In line with the nose, the flavor profile becomes creamier (coconut, almond) and greener, including its peaty accents. Then, it gradually becomes minty and infused (sage, verbena). Gentian and génépi flavors beautifully punctuate the second stage of the tasting.

Finish : Long, refreshing. Overflowing with fruits (pear, apple) and licorice, the tasting becomes smoother. In retro-olfaction, a diaphanous and aniseed peat slowly envelops the palate.
