BENROMACH 2012 Kiln Dried Oak

$140.00

This new limited edition from the Contrasts range was matured in new oak casks dried in the traditional “kiln,” the traditional Scottish distillery oven. In pursuit of innovation and creativity, Benromach wanted to understand what would happen by varying the standard oak drying method before it was transformed into casks by a cooperage. The distillery filled a batch of oak casks dried for 36 months in the open air, as well as a batch of oak casks kiln-dried after only 24 months. This version presents aromas of malted biscuit, lemon, and apple. Creamy and fruity notes are followed by barley sugar and a blend of tropical fruits. The finish is subtly smoky and minty. Curious enthusiasts looking to understand the effects of drying methods on the whisky’s profile are invited to compare it with the Air-dried Oak version!
