Description
TASTING NOTE
Appearance : burnished gold with copper tinges.
Nose : fine, subtle. The delicious first nose reveals a beautiful liqueur that is rancio (apricot, bramble), balsamic (pine) and honeyed (heather, rose). Allowed to breathe, even more heady florals (broom, lavender, iris), beeswax and strong spices (turmeric, star anise) highlight the aroma paletteÕs noble character. Candied fruits (pear, Mirabelle plum) and nuts (walnut, chestnut) beautifully punctuate this first stage of the tasting.
Palate : dynamic, imposing. The superbly fruity (guava, fig, mango), vanilla and spicy (clove, pepper) attack is literally exhilarating. The more malty mid-palate then becomes far more concentrated. Essential oils and black olive illustrate this empyreumatic and smooth development. The very end of the palate is chocolatey and herbaceous (tobacco).
Overall : long, silky. Caressing the taste buds, the mouthfeel on the finish is seeped in the sweet and tangy juices of many different fruits, from lemon to melon, white peach, fresh fig and blood orange. The tertiary (bay leaf, lichen) retro-nasal olfaction reveals rare richness (vanilla flan, walnut cake). The empty glass is malty, floral (lily) and roasted (coffee).
