Located in the heart of Speyside, BenRiach – which means “the hill of the red deer” in Gaelic – was founded by John Duff in 1898. BenRiach embodies all the traditional charm of a Speyside distillery. Like many Scottish distilleries, it has had a tumultuous history and was closed for 65 years.
The true revival of BenRiach began in 2004 and has since captured the curiosity of whisky enthusiasts worldwide. Equipped with four stills, the distillery produces three types of whiskies.
BenRiach stands out by practicing both double and triple distillation. Unusually for a Speyside distillery, BenRiach’s whiskies are distilled from both unpeated and peated malted barley, and the distillery is one of the few in Scotland to have its own malting floor.
While respectful of traditions, BenRiach is forward-looking. With its adventurous spirit, it is poised to reinvent the style of Speyside Single Malts under the guidance of Rachel Barrie, its master distiller.
