Distilled in 1987 and matured for an impressive 23 years, this rare Yoichi single malt showcases the craftsmanship of one of Japan’s most revered distilleries. Founded in 1934 on the northern island of Hokkaido by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, Yoichi is renowned for preserving traditional production methods, including direct coal-fired pot stills and pure underground spring water naturally filtered through peat. These time-honoured techniques impart the distillery’s unmistakable character—rich, structured, and subtly maritime.
This expression highlights a more refined side of Yoichi’s signature style. Lightly peated rather than heavily smoky, it recalls the elegance that made Yoichi famous after earning international acclaim as one of the world’s finest single malts. Layers of orchard fruit, honeyed malt, coastal salinity, gentle smoke, and mature oak unfold beautifully, resulting in a whisky of remarkable balance and complexity. A highly collectible vintage bottling that perfectly captures the harmony between Japanese precision and traditional whisky-making.
