Produced at La Alteña Distillery, founded in 1937 by Felipe Camarena and now led by Carlos Camarena, Tapatío Añejo is made from 100% blue Weber agave grown in the highlands of Jalisco.

The agave is slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens, crushed using a combination of tahona and roller mill, then fermented and double-distilled in copper pot stills.

Aged for approximately 18 months in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 38% ABV (EU release), it develops structure and softness while retaining a clear, agave-forward profile.

Rather than leaning heavily into oak, this is an añejo shaped by restraint, where maturation enhances the spirit without obscuring its origin.

TASTING NOTES

Colour: Light amber with golden hues

Nose: Cooked agave, vanilla and light caramel, with notes of apricot, citrus and a touch of fresh mint

Palate: Smooth and balanced, showing ripe fruit, gentle spice and soft oak. Agave remains present, supported by hints of citrus and light toffee

Finish: Medium to long, clean and warming, with lingering spice, subtle sweetness and a return of fresh agave notes
