RENEGADE Single Cask n°918 Virgin American Oak Foundations

$145.00

In 2020, Mark Reynier launched the first rums from Renegade distillery on the island of Grenada.

He champions a unique approach, focusing on single plots, the expression of terroir, and works closely with local farms.

The first Single Cask bottled by Renegade, this rum is made from the Yellow Lady variety of sugarcane, harvested from the Dump field, cultivated by Westerhall Farm.

Aged for 32 months in a new American oak cask, this rum has extreme smoothness. Its aromatic and gustatory profile combines indulgence, minerality, and umami flavors.

Description

Tasting Notes

Colour
: Deep gold.

Nose : Fresh, exotic. Juicy scents of pineapple and lime meet sugarcane juice aromas, followed by fruity notes (raisins, cranberries, dried apricot), herbaceous tones (grasses), and mineral hints (dry earth, terracotta).

Palate : Lively, full-bodied. Energetic, the initial attack on the palate is also indulgent (almonds, cashews, cranberries). The mid-palate evolves into herbaceous (licorice) and spicy flavors (ginger, cardamom) with smoothness. Then, tomato notes reveal an umami dimension.

Finish : Firm, generous. Earthy, the finish is also fruity (blackberries, blueberries), mineral (rock), powdery (coffee), praline-like, subtly salty (salted butter), and spicy (pepper sauce). Gradually, sugarcane reasserts itself.
