The Renegade Rum Distillery: a modern marvel
precisely designed to exalt the individuality of terroirs, the purity of prolonged fermentation, and thoughtful, rigorous distillation.
Terroir Pearls:
On the coastal plain, a stone’s throw south of the distillery, lies an intriguing terroir between mangrove and water meadow, with a distinctive bank of iron-rich volcanic laterite at its center. Cane grows vigorously on this water-retaining soil, derived from Woburn & Perseverance clays. For this rum, we have harvested the elegant variety we call “Yellow Lady” from the “grapefruit” estate, which stands on the terroir known as the Flats.
With a slight elevation from the coast, the air passing through Pearls is cool. This, in conjunction with a marsh touching the base of the farmhouse, provides rich maintenance of the water-retained soil. Amid the towering palm trees, Pearls was planted with the Yellow Lady and Lacolome Red varieties.
