This small-batch Nine Leaves release is matured in two 400-litre Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, lending the spirit remarkable depth, natural sweetness and a radiant copper glow. The rich Andalusian influence layers dried fruits, cocoa and noble spices over Nine Leaves’ characteristically pure and precise distillate. Both heady and luminous, the profile balances generosity with elegance, unfolding in waves of orchard fruits, honeyed infusions and gentle oxidative complexity — a contemplative, dessert-like yet impeccably structured rum.
Founded in 2013 in Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture, by Yoshiharu Takeuchi, Nine Leaves quickly earned cult status for its meticulous, small-scale production and its use of Forsyths copper pot stills. Fed by the soft, mineral-rich spring water of Mount Ishiyama, each batch was crafted to highlight clarity, terroir and precision rather than heavy oak influence. With production now ceased, Nine Leaves bottlings have become rare collector’s pieces, celebrated for their purity and distinctly Japanese craftsmanship.

Nose: Refined and deep. Cocoa powder, grated ginger and apricot lead into toasted bread, beeswax, oak staves and delicate varnish notes.
Palate: Generous and poised. Orange, peach and nectarine mingle with fig and date, layered with cardamom, saffron, ginger, Bourbon vanilla and coconut milk.
Finish: Velvety and elegant. Sugarcane flower, lavender honey, herbal leaf, gingerbread, kumquat, verbena and chamomile, with lingering liquorice and vanilla sweetness.
