Distilled from kokuto — traditional Okinawan black sugar sourced from Taramajima Island — and fermented with selected local yeasts over four days, this single cask rum bridges Japanese precision with agricole-style freshness. Aged in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, it develops exceptional depth and concentration, where lightly burnt sugarcane, dark fruits and oxidative sweetness meet medicinal, floral and honeyed tones. Radiant yet structured, it reveals remarkable maturity while preserving the clarity of an ultra-pure distillate.

Founded by Yoshiharu Takeuchi in Shiga Prefecture, Nine Leaves became a benchmark for Japanese craft rum through its small-batch philosophy, use of kokuto sugar, Forsyths copper stills and meticulous ageing. Inspired by both Caribbean rum and Scotch whisky traditions, the distillery’s limited single casks are celebrated for their precision, texture and terroir-driven character, and are now increasingly collectible.
