Born in 1894, Masataka Taketsuru is widely regarded as the father of Japanese whisky. After training in Scotland, he returned to Japan and founded the Yoichi distillery in 1934, later establishing Miyagikyo in 1969. These two distilleries form the foundation of Nikka Whisky’s single malt production.
Launched in 1985, Nikka From the Barrel has become one of Nikka’s most recognisable expressions, celebrated for its compact format and rich, complex character. This 2024 Coffret Silhouette presents the whisky in a refined gift set, accompanied by two Glencairn tasting glasses and a pourer. The whisky itself offers a dynamic balance of floral and ripe fruit notes, followed by spice, oak and vanilla.

Palate: Firm and powerful, with peppery spice and oak leading into ripe peach, caramelised apple and honeysuckle.
Finish: Long and gently coastal, with plum and peach lingering over soft woody-vanilla notes.
Style: Round and intense. Peach, cinnamon, leather.
