This limited edition Kilchoman, called Casado or Marriage in Portuguese, was matured in ex-bourbon barrels for 6 years before 38 barrels were carefully selected, blended and aged again for 2 years in two vats of Portuguese red wine from 6000 liters. The two years spent in these vats of red wine add a beautiful aromatic complexity around the red fruits and spices, which balances and harmonizes perfectly with the maritime peat smoke. Only barrels of less than 700 liters are taken into account for the age account, the two years spent in red wine vats are thus considered as a marriage period… hence the name Casado!
