Description
Colour: deep old gold.
Nose: rich and heady. Terpenic (lava), empyreumatic (fuel, petrol), oily, medicinal (tiger balm), camphoric, musky and chocolatey, the aromatic palette is anything but restrained. With aeration, notes of sugarcane and macerating fruits (persimmon, mango, kaffir lime) unfurl their intense fragrances into the air.
Palate: lively and powerful. Equally impressive in richness and concentration, the flavour profile is ashy and almost peaty, at times evoking an Islay single malt?an impression reinforced by a mineral evolution reminiscent of coal. Intensely fruity (pineapple) and liqueur-like (sugarcane), it ultimately reclaims its unmistakably Jamaican identity.
Finish: long and velvety. Deliciously vanilla-led (pod) and high in esters, it reveals harmonious floral (carnation, geranium) and honeyed notes. On the retro-olfaction, dark chocolate and cardamom tea lend a noble, lingering expression. Long afterwards, petrol-like aromas continue to emanate from the empty glass, saturating the surrounding air.
