“Servant” is a Clynelish single malt released by Elixir Distillers as part of Act Two of the Macbeth series, a collection of forty-two whiskies inspired by Shakespeare’s tragedy. One of ten bottlings in The Household series, this expression was fully matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, allowing Clynelish’s famously waxy distillate to take a restrained yet essential role. Rather than dominating, the whisky offers a composed profile of buttery toffee sweetness and beeswax texture, lifted by ground ginger and toasted vanilla, illustrating how subtlety and structure can be just as compelling as intensity.

Rebuilt in 1967 beside its original site in the northern Highlands, Clynelish Distillery is renowned for producing a fresh, fruity and distinctly waxy spirit, much of which forms a cornerstone of Johnnie Walker blends. The original distillery was not demolished but renamed Brora in 1969, later becoming famous for its powerful, heavily peated Highland style before closing in 1983—with its bottlings now highly sought after by collectors. Revered by enthusiasts and blenders alike, Clynelish occupies a unique position in Scotch whisky, valued both as a standalone malt and as a foundational component that allows other flavours to shine.
