Built in 1881 during the Scottish whisky boom, Bunnahabhain is located on the northeast coast of the Isle of Islay. Its still house houses two magnificent pear-shaped stills from which it produces a heavy but generally lightly peated spirit. Acquired by the Burn Stewart Distillers group in May 2003, Bunnahabhain has in recent years offered young versions bottled by merchants that are heavily smoky and peaty.
