Colour: gold.

Nose: rich, heady. Characterised by aromas of fried onion, malted barley and gamey peat, the first nose proudly proclaims its old school style. Allowed to breathe, notes of ash, bacon, cut hay and cooked barley precede empyreumatic aromas of rubber and sleet. Then, gradually, a few fresh fruits appear (Mirabelle plum, greengage plum).                                                                       

Palate: lively yet creamy. The vegetal (cut hay), liquorice and roasted (coffee) attack sees peat take on mentholated, lemony and meaty tones. On the mid-palate, the fine acridity of a smoking cigar covers the palate. At the end of the palate, letting go, peat enables a full expression of green walnut, exotic fruits (lychee, kiwi), lime and aniseed.

Finish: long, full-bodied. The vanilla, herbaceous (lucerne) and liquorice start of the finish reveals incredible freshness. Giving its own take on a smoking cigar, the end of the finish is delicately ashy. On the retro-nasal olfaction, aromatic plants (sorrel, chervil, chive) accentuate the flavour palette’s vegetal character. The empty glass reveals notes of dried peat and artichoke heart.
