La Maison & Velier is delighted to announce the launch of Ex Libris, our first range dedicated entirely to whiskies of the world. The first expressions are three Irish single malts bottled under the brand name Knappogue Castle and an old Canadian rye whisky from J.P. Wiser’s, made at the Hiram Walker distillery. The range is inspired by a literary universe that aims to act as a counterpart to the ARTIST range’s very visual approach. The labels echo the covers of the great literary classics, and each single cask is named after a key work from its country of origin. Thus, the Irish whiskeys pay tribute to the novels of Ireland’s most famous poet, Oscar Wilde, and the Canadian whisky refers to the novel “Son of a Smaller Hero”, by Canadian author Mordecai Richler. When contacted to discuss the project, the authors’ descendants showed great enthusiasm and we are grateful for their support in this new endeavour.
