BRUICHLADDICH 18 ans 2004 ex-Sherry Cask New Vibrations Rest & Be Thankful

Equipped with six Oregon pine washbacks with fermentation durations ranging from 60 to 105 hours, Bruichladdich distillery sources only Scottish barley, 50% of which is cultivated on the Isle of Islay. Aged in a cask that previously held sherry wine, this version inevitably resonates with the remarkable 20-year-old Bruichladdich aged in a bourbon barrel from the same New Vibrations catalog. Beautifully powdered, its aromatic and gustatory palette reveals stunningly lingering camphoraceous and spicy notes.

Tasting Notes

: Bright gold.

Nose : Rich, complex. Oxidative (cooked apricot and strawberry), exotic (mango), and smoky (beeswax, suspended dust), the initial nose is absolutely magnificent. Upon aeration, heady scents of sandalwood, incense, and flowering geranium mingle with subtle notes of bitumen.

Palate : Both lively and airy. Embracing the mineral character of the aromatic palette, the palate is also honeyed (heather), fruity (strawberry, raspberry), and chocolatey. In the mid-palate, freshly malted barley grains cascade onto the tongue.

Finish : Long, intense. Saturated with smoky ash aromas, the finish is creamy (milk tart, almond), vanilla, and fruity (Williams pear). Infused with lime and verbena, the aftertaste reveals a dry peat and germinated barley grains.
