Profile:
Rich and deep. Beeswax, peat, mirabelle plum.
Colour: Topaz
Nose: Rich and profound. Opening on notes of beeswax, iris concrete, roasted pineapple and nutmeg, the aromatic palette slowly expands to include scents of ginger root, malt, and earthy, oily peat. With aeration, it develops chocolate and honeyed tones (heather, lime blossom).
Palate: Lively and incisive. Medicinal (balsam), smoky and lemony (zest), the palate also reflects the honeyed character of the nose. Becoming more powdery (cocoa), cereal-forward (corn, malted barley) and jammy (apple, mirabelle plum), it gradually reveals a drier peat charged with mineral salts.
Finish: Both energetic and silky. Alternating between medicinal and invigorating, it then softens to reveal barley sugar, bitter almond and candied ginger. Remarkably deep and distinctive, the aftertaste drifts into the bold, opulent world of American rye whiskies.
