Method & Madness, literally “Method & Madness,” is not just a range of Irish whiskeys launched by Irish Distillers. It is primarily a microdistillery founded within Midleton itself: a real laboratory of experiments orchestrated by Brian Nation, master distiller, Kevin O’Gorman, master of maturation, and Billy Leighton, chief blender. These three great professionals work hand in hand with the young apprentices of Midleton. While the latter are destined to ensure the future, their role is also to imagine the future of spirits by combining tradition and heritage with innovation and the need to push boundaries. In this modern and unconventional craft distillery, transmission therefore rhymes with innovation. Method & Madness was created to explore new styles of Irish whiskey in both types of distillation and aging techniques.
This 14-year-old single malt, as tradition dictates, is made from 100% malted barley, and stands out for its aging in bourbon barrels and Limousin oak barrels – often used in the cognac industry – giving it woody and floral notes.
