MARQUIS DE MONTESQUIOU is a French Armagnac house founded in 1936 by Pierre de Montesquiou. The Montesquiou family has been established in Gascony since 1040 and counts Pierre de Montesquiou d’Artagnan, musketeer to Louis XIV and inspiration for Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers, among its ancestors. Since 1955, the house has been guided by only three cellar masters, preserving its expertise in blending and ageing.
For this VS, the house selects eaux-de-vie from the Bas-Armagnac and Ténarèze appellations, combining finesse with structure. The result is a light amber Armagnac with copper highlights, offering delicate aromas of apple, apricot, caramel, vanilla, pastry and flambéed banana. On the palate, it is silky, broad and fresh, with generous fruit and a subtle touch of black pepper, leading to a finish of banana and candied fruit.
