When establishing Kilchoman, the Wills aimed to perpetuate the tradition of farm distillation on Islay.

Thus, Kilchoman 100% Islay whiskies represent a return to tradition as the only Single Farm Single Malt whiskies from Islay.

To achieve this, Kilchoman grows its own barley before malting, distilling, aging, and bottling each of its 100% Islay editions—the only whisky on the island made entirely at the distillery.

Sown each spring in the rich lands surrounding the distillery, the barley matures during the summer months before being harvested in early autumn.

It is then malted and peated to 20 ppm with peat sourced from a nearby field, allowing the 100% Islay editions to be more delicately peated than the rest of the Kilchoman range. Exotic, original, delicate, nuanced… these are the terms that most accurately describe the aromatic and flavor profile of this deeply island-inspired version named Autonomy, which rightly reflects all the effort put forth by Anthony Wills in his family farm-distillery.
