Description
Nose:
Racy and deep. At first, aromas of salted butter caramel, candied apricot and mango mingle with earthy notes of loam and truffle. With aeration, as increasingly powerful smoke fills the air, the aromatic palette turns medicinal, camphorated and iodised.
Appearance:
Deep orange-copper.
Palate:
Fine and complex. Mirroring the nose, the palate displays peat and sherry working in perfect harmony. Flavours of dried fruits (date, fig), citrus (tangerine, orange) and toffee provide a delicious counterpoint to notes of tobacco, iodine tincture and peat with chocolatey and tertiary accents (moss, lichen).
Overall:
Delicate and subtle. Deeply malty and maritime (seaweed), the finish becomes empyreumatic (tyre, bitumen) and animal (bacon, smoked fish). Gourmet and generous, the retro-olfaction evokes apricot tart and heather honey, highlighting the warm influence of Andalusian sherry. Long afterwards, a superb malt-driven aftertaste emerges.
