Description
Tasting Notes
Colour : Deep orangey copper.
Nose : Rich, deep. Characterised by a beautiful chocolate and apricot rancio, the first nose also reveals a wealth of dried fruit and nuts, including almond, walnut, date and fig, as well as noble spices (curry, ginger). Allowed to breathe, vetiver and camphor aromas appear alongside notes of leather and hot rubber. Next, exotic fruits (very ripe banana and mango) accompany rum-like oxidative fragrances of molasses.
Palate : Firm, lively. The divinely chocolate attack gives its own take on the empyreumatic register of the nose (tar, grilled walnut, walnut stain). On the mid-palate, this magnificent sequence of flavours gradually gives way to candied citrus fruits (orange, mandarin), spices (cumin, ginger, cinnamon) and Zan liquorice sweet (liquorice, mint). The very floral end of the palate releases orchid, geranium and tuberose fragrances.
Finish : Long, very serene. With its notes of forest floor, mushroom and lichen, the start of the finish is a faithful summary of the nose and palate. Gradually, salted butter caramel and biscuit highlight the flavour palette’s rich and smooth character. Then, at the end of the finish, coffee beans spread across the palate, bringing an invigorating bitterness. On the retro-nasal olfaction, refreshing notes of white mint and vervain coat the taste buds. The empty glass is at once medicinal (ointment) camphoric, praline and delicately woody.
