Description
Colour: bright gold.
Nose: lively and complex. Oily peat, delicate smoke evocative of Havana cigars, candied citrus (grapefruit), heady flowers (broom, mimosa), fleur de sel, green olives, fresh walnuts, a pinch of clove and tiger balm. All these aromas are clearly defined, offering a vivid glimpse of the breadth of the aromatic palette.
Palate: energetic and assertive. Beautifully balanced, the flavour profile retains for a long time the malted and herbal imprint that defines it from the outset. Finely liquorice-like and saline peat (seaweed) gradually takes centre stage, followed by fresh fruits (pear, mirabelle plum) and more lactic notes (coconut, almond) that envelop the palate.
Finish: long and full-bodied. Marked by notes of straw, dried twigs and soot, the finish also reveals a deliciously indulgent side (milk flan, rice pudding). Balsamic in character (thuja, pine), the retro-nasal olfaction is lifted by notes of courgette flower, green tomato, fresh ginger and malted barley.
