Rhum Damoiseau Vintage 1953 is an exceptionally rare and historic vintage agricole rum distilled in 1953 and aged for 31 years in oak casks under the tropical climate of Guadeloupe before being bottled in 1984. This vintage release—one of the oldest rums available from the famed distillery—showcases extraordinary depth and aromatic concentration. The prolonged tropical ageing enriches the spirit with remarkable complexity, where citrus, dried fruit and precious wood tones evolve into tobacco, spice and vanilla, culminating in a refined and elegant taste experience that embodies both age and terroir.
Rhum Damoiseau has been a benchmark producer of rhum agricole in Guadeloupe’s Bellevue district since the mid-20th century. Now led by Hervé Damoiseau, the family-owned distillery is rooted in the tradition of transforming fresh sugarcane juice into column-distilled rum, a style celebrated for its clarity, vegetal brightness and expressive maturation potential. Guadeloupe’s warm, humid climate accelerates interaction between spirit and wood, producing rums with pronounced character and depth. Vintage releases such as the 1953 edition are among the rarest expressions from the maison, coveted by collectors and connoisseurs for their historical significance and sensory richness.
