Founded in 1869 by legendary distiller John Smith, Cragganmore is one of Speyside’s most distinctive distilleries. Its uniquely flat stills with T-shaped lyne arms and mineral-rich spring water contribute to a refined, complex spirit celebrated for its balance of floral elegance, rich malt and subtle fruit. Much of its production has traditionally been reserved for blends, making well-aged independent bottlings especially desirable.
Distilled in 1973 and matured for 15 years, this rare expression was released under Gordon & MacPhail’s iconic Connoisseurs Choice Old Map Label—one of the whisky world’s longest-running and most respected independent bottling series. Introduced in 1968, the Connoisseurs Choice range helped whisky enthusiasts discover single malts from distilleries that were rarely available as official bottlings. Today, the sought-after Old Map Label releases are prized by collectors for their historical significance and their representation of classic Scotch whisky from a bygone era.
