Description
Colour: bright gold.
Nose: fresh and rich. The particularly malty first nose is also characterized by notes of candied fruit (lemon, pear, pineapple). Allowed to breathe, enveloping floral aromas (honeysuckle, carnation) appear alongside sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg). Notes of beeswax, toffee and lavender honey then bring lots of density to the aroma palette.
Palate: clean, lively. The profoundly malty, herbaceous (cut hay), vanilla and fruity (roasted apple) attack has remarkable presence. As it lingers, the mid-palate reveals spice bread and flavours of Kouign-amann Breton pastry. The rustic (ploughed land, compost) and vegetal (tobacco, tea) end of the palate is also remarkably sweet (aniseed bonbons, Calisson dAix).
Finish: long, smooth. The incredibly fresh start of the finish reveals red fruits (strawberry, redcurrant, raspberry), black fruits (blackcurrant, bramble) and nuts (chestnut, hazelnut). The end of the finish is characterized by notes of vanilla and spice bread. On the retro-nasal olfaction, malted barley grains rise to the surface of the flavour palette. The empty glass confirms this malty evolution, adding aromas of leather, liquorice and camphor.
