This limited Chichibu single malt, distilled from the Venture barley variety and matured in a rare ex-cider cask, showcases one of the most extroverted and fruit-forward profiles ever produced at the distillery. By pairing Chichibu’s naturally energetic spirit with the bright, orchard-driven influence of cider-seasoned oak, the whisky delivers an aromatic explosion of apples, warm pastry notes, and noble spices. Rich, elegant, and remarkably expressive, this release captures the vivid atmosphere of a traditional malting floor — warm, grain-laden, and alive with fermenting aromas — long after each sip.

Founded in 2008, Chichibu Distillery has risen to global prominence through its relentless pursuit of authenticity and craftsmanship. Under the leadership of Ichiro Akuto, Chichibu has built a reputation as one of Japan’s most innovative and respected whisky producers. The distillery is celebrated for its use of local barley, exploration of Japanese peat, and especially its commitment to traditional techniques — including fermentation in mizunara oak vats and distillation in small, manually operated stills.

To ensure total control over maturation, Chichibu established its own in-house cooperage, enabling Akuto to work extensively with local mizunara oak sourced from the region and from Hokkaido. This dedication to domestic materials positions Chichibu at the forefront of what may one day be recognised as truly 100% Japanese whisky.
