Description
TASTING NOTE
Appearance : topaz.
Nose : ample, rich. On the initial nose, a rich, oily peat is accompanied by very ripe banana, dark chocolate and fresh walnut. Increasingly salty and liquorice, it also becomes hot (cayenne) and spicy (clove, ginger). Tiger balm, benzoin and camphor highlight its medicinal character. Gradually it creates the sensation of strolling through a field of peat in the wake of rainfall.
Palate : dense, resolute. The attack makes a malty, earthy, peaty, smoky and ashy beeline for the end of the palate. On the mid-palate, verbena, lime blossom honey and black pepper spread their sweet and spicy floral flavours across the sides of the palate. Saturated with smoke, the end of the palate is also fruity (Napoleon cherries, sweet chestnut, date).
Overall : long, silky. Vanilla pod and cocoa bean at first appear on equal terms with a camphoric and very oily peat. Rich (vanilla flan, raisin cake), it then develops notes of damp straw and aromatic plants (chamomile, sage). With rare intensity, the retronasal olfaction is like a chocolate and earthy, powerful Havana cigar. The empty glass is spicy (saffron), fruity (Mirabelle plum), intensely peaty and ashy (soot).
