Built in 1973 as Braes of Glenlivet, Braeval is a Speyside distillery known for producing a light, floral and gently sweet spirit. Renamed Braeval in 1996, the distillery has historically supplied whisky primarily for blends, making independent bottlings a valuable opportunity to explore its character as a single malt.
This 9-year-old Braeval, distilled in 2016 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in January 2026, was matured in a single refill ex-bourbon barrel and bottled at a powerful 60.5% ABV. Presented in the Spirit of Scotland range, it is non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, with only 239 bottles produced. Fresh citrus, orchard fruits and floral notes lead into a clean, malty palate with vanilla cream, ginger and gentle spice.

Nose: Fresh and floral, with white flowers, lemon, pink grapefruit, green apple and ripe pear. Malted biscuits, vanilla and a touch of white pepper add depth.
Palate: Clean and lively, combining malty sweetness with bright citrus and floral notes. Vanilla cream, ginger and lightly toasted oak emerge towards the mid-palate.
Finish: Medium in length, warm and clean, with flowering meadow, citrus, ginger and white pepper.
