Acquired by Nikka in 1989, Ben Nevis Distillery is renowned for producing a robust Highland spirit with an oily texture, subtle earthy peat and remarkable character. While its whisky is traditionally matured in sherry casks, the distillery’s weighty spirit also excels in more adventurous cask finishes, creating distinctive expressions that retain Ben Nevis’ unmistakable identity.
Distilled in 2016 and matured for 9 years, this small batch release from Signatory Vintage’s Un-Chillfiltered Collection received a finish in Montravel white wine casks from South-West France. The fresh, fruit-driven wine influence introduces vibrant citrus, orchard fruit and mineral complexity, complementing the distillery’s oily texture and gentle peat without overwhelming it. Bottled without chill filtration or added colouring, it is a bold and unconventional Highland single malt that balances richness with freshness.

Nose: Gentle peat smoke, preserved lemon, fresh pear, damp grass, chalky minerality and delicate white wine notes.
Palate: Rich and textured, with oily peat, citrus zest, crisp orchard fruits, cereals, sea salt and a refined mineral character.
Finish: Medium to long, fresh and lingering, with soft smoke, lemon, minerality and subtle salinity.
